Day 1 - Chiang Mai
Welcome to Northern Thailand. Upon arrival at Chiang Mai International Airport, you’ll be met by our team and transferred to our handpicked hotel in the heart of the old city.
The rest of the day is yours to relax after your journey, enjoy the hotel facilities, or explore Chiang Mai’s vibrant streets, cafés and night markets before meeting the group.
In the evening we’ll gather for a welcome dinner, tour briefing and introductions before the adventure begins.
Day 2 - Chiang Mai – Li – Thoen – Tak – Sukhothai
A fantastic introduction featuring sweeping mountain roads, quiet country highways and beautiful rural scenery before arriving at the birthplace of ancient Siam.

What motorcycle will I ride?
Our standard motorcycles are the Honda CB500X and the latest Honda NX500. Both are comfortable, reliable adventure motorcycles, perfectly suited to Northern Thailand’s winding mountain roads.
How much riding can I expect each day?
Most riding days average between 220 and 385 km, with approximately 5–7 hours in the saddle. We maintain a relaxed pace with plenty of scenic, cultural and refreshment stops throughout the day.
What are the road conditions like?
The tour follows predominantly excellent tarmac roads, including smooth mountain passes, sweeping curves and quiet rural highways. There is no off-road riding required.
Is this tour suitable for intermediate riders?
- Yes. Riders should be confident handling a mid-sized motorcycle on winding roads. While the route includes plenty of mountain riding, the roads are generally well maintained and suitable for riders with some touring experience.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
Gear is also available however if you prefer to bring your personal things, here’s what we recommend to bring:

Can I bring a passenger?
Absolutely. Pillions are welcome and many couples enjoy this tour together.

We stay in carefully selected premium hotels, boutique properties and mountain retreats chosen for their comfort, character and excellent locations.
What meals are included?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included throughout the tour. We also provide snacks and soft drinks during the riding days, with meals carefully selected to showcase Northern Thailand’s outstanding cuisine.
Is the fuel included?
Yes. Fuel for your motorcycle is included, so there are no hidden riding costs.
What support is provided?
Every tour includes an experienced Tour Leader, Road Captain, support vehicle, mechanic and luggage transport, allowing you to simply enjoy the ride.
How large are the groups?
To ensure a personalised experience, groups are limited to a maximum of 10 riders.
What happens in case of accidents or medical emergencies?
In the event of an emergency, we rely on both public and private services to provide immediate assistance. We will promptly inform your emergency contact as well as your country’s embassy or consular mission. Please note that you are responsible for any expenses incurred in such situations; therefore, ensure your insurance policy covers motorcycle touring accidents. If necessary, Ride On will cover any initial expenses, which must then be reimbursed accordingly.
How Do I Book and What Is the Payment Process?
On this tour we require a 25% deposit. The balance is due three months before the tour date. Currently, we accept bank transfer and major card payments. Once you are ready to confirm, get in touch and we will send you an invoice with instructions.
What is your refund policy?
Deposits are generally non-refundable unless we have to cancel the tour. However, if you decide—or are unable—to join the tour for any reason, we will do our best to find a solution that works for both parties, whether by transferring the deposit to a different tour or, if possible, providing a partial refund. Is travel insurance required?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance covering motorcycle touring is mandatory for all participants.
Do I need an International Driving Permit?
Yes. Riders must hold a valid motorcycle licence and an International Driving Permit (IDP), together with any local requirements applicable at the time of travel.
When is the best time to join this tour?
Northern Thailand offers excellent riding conditions for much of the year, with the cooler, dry season from November to February being particularly popular.
Is luggage transported separately?
Yes. Your main luggage travels in the support vehicle, so you only need to carry your daily essentials on the motorcycle.
