Once known as Ceylon—a name that evokes the island’s storied colonial past, legendary spice routes, and world-renowned tea—Sri Lanka is a tropical paradise brimming with diversity and charm. From its idyllic golden shores to mist-laden mountains, it offers an enthralling tapestry of nature and culture.

The Ceylon Signture is a 7-day journey through some of Sri Lanka’s most captivating landscapes. Your adventure begins at a seaside retreat near Colombo, where you’ll meet your dedicated support team and familiarize yourself with the route. Travel south along the sun-kissed coastline to reach the UNESCO-listed Dutch Fort in Galle, a historic enclave that blends European architecture with Sri Lankan flair.

Venture east for an exhilarating safari in Yala National Park, home to elephants, deer, crocodiles, and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. From there, head inland through lush countryside toward the hill country, stopping at the breathtaking Ravana Falls and continuing to Ella, a laid-back town surrounded by dramatic peaks and tea plantations.

As you climb winding, mist-shrouded mountain roads, uncover the iconic Lipton’s Seat, perched high amid historic tea estates that first drew the world’s attention during Ceylon’s colonial era. Further along, the otherworldly Horton Plains unveil sweeping grasslands, hidden waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya—often called “Little England”—where colonial heritage meets cool mountain air, providing a refreshing contrast to the coast.

Conclude your journey with a scenic descent to Colombo, checking in at the famed Galle Face Hotel, a colonial-era landmark overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Please note that distances and durations are approximate and do not account for breaks or guided tours of sites, parks, and monuments, only the actual riding time.

    Day 1 - Colombo

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport, you’ll be transferred to your luxurious beach hotel on the outskirts of the city. Settle in and take in your first glimpses of the Indian Ocean. In the evening, meet your dedicated support team and fellow riders for welcome drinks and a detailed briefing about the journey ahead, followed by a relaxed dinner. This is your chance to get to know everyone, ask any questions, and prepare for the adventure that awaits.

After breakfast, gear up and begin your ride along Sri Lanka’s west coast, heading south. Today’s route is all about getting comfortable with the bikes, local road conditions, and traffic.

Along the way, you’ll make a few stops to break up the journey. We’ll start with Richmond Castle, an impressive Edwardian mansion that showcases a blend of European and Sri Lankan architectural influences.

As we get closer to the south we’ll stop by a Sea Turtle Hatchery where you’ll learn about Sri Lanka’s commitment to protecting its endangered sea turtle population, observe different species and discover how local conservation efforts help hatch and release these gentle creatures back into the ocean.
There will also be the opportunity to delve into Sri Lanka’s artisanal heritage by visiting workshops in Ambalangoda, famous for crafting vibrant, hand-carved masks used in traditional dance and folklore.

Arrive in Galle by late afternoon and check in to your charming accommodation within the historic Dutch Fort—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As sunset approaches, enjoy a leisurely walk along the fort’s ramparts, soaking in panoramic views of the ocean. Later, we’ll dine at one of the fort’s excellent restaurants, where you can indulge in fresh seafood and local specialties.

    • Distance: 110 km
    • Duration: 3 hrs

Start the day at a relaxed pace, allowing more time to roam the cobblestone streets of Galle Fort or pick up souvenirs for friends and family. Remember to exercise your bargaining skills; local vendors are adept negotiators!

The ride continues east along Sri Lanka’s southern coastline, offering beautiful ocean views. Be prepared for occasional traffic—this stretch of road is bustling and demands your focus.

Midway, pause for lunch at a handpicked beach restaurant where you can savor local flavors.

By late afternoon, we arrive in the vicinity of Yala National Park, renowned for its diverse wildlife and scenic landscapes. Settle into your upscale accommodation, surrounded by the sounds of nature. Tomorrow morning we are going to wake up early.

    • Distance: 168 km
    • Duration: 4.5 hrs

Rise early for a jeep safari in Yala National Park. With luck, you may spot elephants, deer, crocodiles, water buffalo, and even the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. The park’s varied habitats—from wetlands to dense scrub—make it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike.

After the safari, return to the hotel for a quick refresh. Then, mount your bike once more and journey toward Sri Lanka’s central highlands, passing through the edges of Yala and Lunugamvehera National Parks. Keep your eyes peeled for roaming elephants along the way. As you ascend into the hills via winding mountain roads, stop briefly at Ravana Ella, a picturesque waterfall steeped in local folklore. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Ella, a charming hillside town known for its laid-back vibe and spectacular vistas. Evening temperatures can drop, so have a light sweater handy for tonight’s dinner in one of Ella’s cozy eateries.

    • Distance: 125 km
    • Duration: 3 hrs

Depart Ella early, riding through verdant tea plantations en route to Lipton’s Seat—an iconic viewpoint perched around 1,970 meters (6,460 feet) above sea level. The climb may include some bumpy sections, but the reward is an incredible panorama of rolling hills and the chance to observe tea pluckers at work.

Continuing into the highlands, you’ll journey through fragrant pine and eucalyptus forests. Temperatures can dip to around 10°C to 20°C (50°F–68°F), a refreshing contrast to the tropical lowlands. Next, visit the Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its grasslands, mist-laden forests, and dramatic viewpoints like World’s End.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya—also called “Little England” for its colonial-era bungalows and manicured gardens. At 1,868 meters (6,128 feet) above sea level, the town’s cool climate provides a gentle respite from the day’s ride. Unwind at your premium hotel, perhaps with a warm cup of Ceylon tea, and relish the crisp mountain air.

    • Distance: 105 km
    • Duration: 5 hrs

Today’s final riding leg takes you along scenic mountain roads and through bustling rural towns, offering glimpses of everyday life in Sri Lanka’s hill country. As you descend, the landscape transitions from lush highland vegetation to the warmer lowlands dotted with rubber plantations and paddy fields.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Colombo, the nation’s vibrant capital. Your home for the night is the legendary Galle Face Hotel, a colonial-era landmark that has welcomed travelers for over a century.

Unwind with an oceanfront view and reminisce about the week’s incredible experiences. In the evening, gather for a special farewell dinner, sharing stories from the road and celebrating an unforgettable journey in true Sri Lankan style.

    • Distance: 161 km
    • Duration: 5 hrs

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Galle Face Hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you may choose to explore a bit of Colombo’s modern cafés, shops, or colonial architecture. When it’s time, transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Leave Sri Lanka with memories of scenic coastlines, misty mountains, remarkable wildlife, and the warm hospitality you’ve experienced throughout your luxurious 7-day adventure. Safe travels!
